How to read the map
It is the whole sky as you would see it lying on your back: the point straight overhead in the middle, the horizon all around the edge, north at the top and east on the left. The lines join the stars of each constellation. The dashed line is the ecliptic, the path the Sun, the Moon and the planets travel.
What it is drawn from
Every star to magnitude 5.5, about as faint as the eye can see from a dark place, from the Hipparcos catalogue, and the planets from NASA JPL’s DE440 ephemeris, the same positions your Blueprint uses. Each is placed for your birthplace and your birth minute, and lifted by the atmosphere near the horizon as it would have looked.
Day or night
If you were born in daylight the stars were still there, only hidden by the Sun. The map shows them anyway, and says where the Sun stood.
